Ayoung Hong was born in Daegu, South Korea in September 1987. She received her bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology(KAIST) in 2009. In 2012, she completed her master thesis in Robotics and Simulation Laboratory(RSLab), KAIST, focusing on the control of teleoperation systems with communication constraints. Afterwards, she was awarded Global Internship Program Fellowship from National Research Foundation of Korea and working at Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics, Tuebingen, Germany. After working at Daegu Research Center for Medical Devices and Green Energy, Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials, she joined MSRL as a PhD student in July 2013.
