Chengzhi Hu was born in Harbin, China, in 1986. He received his Bachelor degree (2008) and Master degree (2010) from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, majoring in mechanical science and engineering. He studied the magnetic manipulation of capsule endoscope inside the human gastrointestinal tract. In March 2014, he received the PhD degree in the Department of Micro-Nano Systems Engineering, Nagoya University. The research focused on the magnetically guided assembly of porogen and hydrogel microfibers for fabrication of tissue-engineering scaffolds. Since May 2014 he is a postdoctoral associate at the Multi-Scale Robotics Lab, ETH Zurich. His current research includes mechanical characterization of pollen tubes with magnetic micro/nano tools and non-invasive lifetime based wound monitoring with fluorescence sensors.
