Magnetic navigation systems

Magnetic Navigation is a breakthrough technology to remotely manipulate magnetic devices. These devices are controlled with a Magnetic Navigation System that generates a magnetic field in the 3D space. Such systems are used to generate magnetic torques and forces on permanent magnets, or soft magnetic materials embedded on tethered robots such as catheters, or untethered microrobots. This technology provides a remote, reliable and precise actuation method.

 


Our group have been developing magnetic navigation systems (MNS) at different scales as represented in the figure below.
